Homework

Meaningful homework assignments, to be accomplished outside of the regular classroom, are an integral part of the teaching and learning process. Homework provides time to practice, maintain, complete, make-up, or enrich classroom activities. Homework is given nightly and all homework must be signed by parents. It is the responsibility of parents to provide all materials needed for projects to be done at home. Homework must reflect student effort and all assignments must be presented in a decent and timely manner. Homework will be taken into account as a part of the students' final grade.

Tests

The purpose of tests is to assess and measure students' performance according to state standards and the courses of study within the disciplines. Tests will be given weekly in all subject areas. Final exams will be given quarterly. There will be four for the calendar year with a passing score of 70% for individual subjects. A score below 75% will require remedial work, tutoring, and/or mandatory summer school.

Awards

The purpose of awards is to recognize and celebrate students' achievements across various categories and disciplines. Awards ceremonies are held to honor those who excel academically, artistically, or in community service throughout the year.

Reports

  • Report cards: There are four reporting periods in the school year. A report card is given at open-school conferences in November and March; the other two are sent home with the students.
  • Progress reports: Issued periodically to indicate any concerns or missing projects. These allow for early intervention from teachers and parents.
  • If at any time you do not see homework, tests, reports, or assignments coming home, please feel free to communicate with the office and/or teacher.
